Academic Programs
Overview
This degree program is designed for working adults and/or students who have well-defined career goals. The program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to develop specific competencies and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in technical studies that are not available through existing degree programs at Minnesota West Community & Technical College. This program is not intended to provide certification in any field.

Online, Worthington
The program requires submission of a written plan of study initiated by the student with assistance from an academic counselor/faculty member. The plan must also demonstrate transferability to at least one four-year accredited institution, even when it may not be the intention of the student to transfer immediately after completing this degree.
Career-area credits may be earned in technical courses, independent study projects and internships. Credits may be transferred from other institutions in accord with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities' residency requirement for earning the Associate in Applied Science degree.
To earn an A.A.S. degree, students must complete the following requirements:
- Successful completion of 60 semester credits of which at least 15 must be earned at Minnesota West Community & Technical College.
- A grade point average of 2.0 (C) or better.
- A minimum of 15 credits selected from at least 3 of the 10 goal areas in Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.
- Fulfill at least a 45 credit core of technical courses unique to the program being completed of which no more than 6 credits can be from an internship.
