Description
Pharmacology in Substance Use Disorders introduces students to the pharmacology of substance abuse disorders and the dynamics of addiction. Pharmacological approaches to withdrawal, treatment, recovery, and relapse prevention (including medication-assisted therapy) are also reviewed.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate an understanding of how the brain and body work in response to the presence of pharmacological agents.
2. Identify the names, classifications, and major clinical effects of psychoactive drugs of abuse and addiction.
3. Recognize the clinical signs, symptoms, and behaviors that may be indicative of psychoactive chemical use, abuse, or dependence.
4. Develop an understanding of medications used in the treatment of substance use disorders (SUDs).
