Learning Outcomes
1. Develop proficiency in hand-building with slabs using slump or hump molds, pinching, coil building large vase forms, combining more complex extruded forms and throwing dinner place settings
2. Create a body of work that demonstrates individual artistic expression and personal approach to functional or sculptural ceramics
3. Develop proficiency in wedging and proper clay preparation
4. Experiment with advanced surface treatment techniques including in-depth glazing bisqueware, decorating using wax resist and a variety of glazing methods
5. Demonstrate the required safety standards
6. Develop understanding of historical and theoretical context of ceramics within human expression
7. Critique personal and classmates’ work via engaging in continuous improvement in a respectful and constructive manner
