Description
Framing & Construction assists students in gaining hands-on experience laying out, building, straightening, bracing and leveling walls, floors and roof truss framing.

Topics to be Covered
1. Construction of floor systems
2. Layout and construction of interior and exterior walls.
3. Use of trusses in roof framing.
Learning Outcomes
1. Explain the difference between platform and balloon framing
2. Lay out and install sills on a foundation wall.
3. Describe how layouts are made on header joists.
4. Describe kinds of material used for subflooring.
5. Identify components of wood frame wall.
6. Lay out and install floor joists on a sill.
7. Lay out and install studs, king studs, trimmer studs, and cripple studs on wall plates.
8. Measure, cut and install window and door headers.
9. Install subfloor on floor joists.
10. Apply exterior sheathing to a wall section.
11. Read a set of truss blueprints.
12. Explain the design and erection of roof trusses.
13. Demonstrate the proper procedure for sheathing a roof.
