EMS 1112 AHA CPR Healthcare Provider, AED First Aid Certification

Description

AHA CPR Healthcare Provider, AED, First Aid introduces skills necessary to become certified in CPR, First Aid and AED aligned with the current American Heart Association Guidelines for the CPR Healthcare Provider Certification and Certification in Automated External Defibrillation and First Aid. The student will be able to properly and safety assess a patient, recognize signs and symptoms and administer the appropriate treatment.

Topics to be Covered

1. Chain of survival, basic anatomy and physiology of the respiratory, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system

2. Signs and symptoms of cardiac and stroke emergencies, risk factors of heart disease and stroke

3. Adult, child and infant CPR, obstructed airway, rescue breathing, and appropriate use of an Automated External Defibrillator

4. First Aid fundamentals including scene safety, personal safety and patient assessment

5. Forms of treatment for medical, traumatic, and environmental emergencies

Learning Outcomes

1. Describe the chain of survival, basic anatomy of the respiratory, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular systems

2. Identify the signs and symptoms of cardiac and stroke emergencies and explain he risk factors associated with heart disease

3. Demonstrate effective life-saving CPR skills on infants, children and adults including effective rescue breathing and treatment of obstructed airways

4. Perform correct use of an Automated External Defibrillator

5. Identify medical/trauma/environmental emergencies and demonstrate first aid skills in treatment of these emergencies

6. Explain he importance of scene safety and personal safety
