CJS 1150: Homeland Security and Terrorism
Description
Homeland Security and Terrorism studies terrorism, counterterrorism, terrorist personalities, and terrorist groups, including types, tactics, and trends on a worldwide scale as well as domestically. This course also examines the issues of prevention, civil liberties and the role and responsibilities of entry level peace officers.

Learning Outcomes
1. Examine and gain a better understanding of the background and events leading to the 9/11 attacks on America.
2. Discuss the tactics and weapons of terrorism including WMD.
3. Examine and define some of the security vulnerabilities of the U.S.
4. Learn the principles of risk assessment as applied to antiterrorism.
5. Discuss the roles of first responders and crisis planning in terms of dealing with a terrorist incident.
6. Examine the lessons learned from a simulated terrorist attack.
7. Discuss the roles of the military, federal government and local governments.
