OTAC 2115: Problem-Based Learning for the OTA III
Description
Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for the OTA III promotes entry-level critical thinking skills using best practices, scholarship, and dedicated resources. Students continue building upon PBL I and II to culminate in a final project demonstrating ethical practice, lifelong learning skills, and effective communication.

Learning Outcomes
B.2.11. Leadership
Demonstrate knowledge of effective leadership styles. Identify personal and professional strengths and areas for growth to become an effective leader.
B.3.5. Reporting Data (Mastery Level)
Collaborating in the development of occupation-based intervention plans and strategies that must be client centered, culturally relevant, reflection of current occupational therapy practice, and based on available evidence. Under the direction of an occupational therapist, report on data for evaluation of client outcomes.
B.3.7. Need for Continued or Modified Intervention (Mastery Level)
Monitor and reassess, in collaboration with the client and care partner, the effect of occupational therapy intervention and the need for continued or modified intervention and communicate the identified needs to the occupational therapist.
B.3.10. Plan for Discharge (Mastery Level)
Implement a discharge plan from occupational therapy services that was developed by the occupational therapist in collaboration with the client and members of the interprofessional team by reviewing the needs of the client, caregiver, family, and significant others; available resources; and discharge environment.
B.3.17. Referral to Specialists (Mastery Level)
Identify and communicate to the occupational therapist the need to refer to specialists both internal and external to the profession, including community agencies.
B.3.21. Effective Communication (Mastery Level)
Demonstrate effective communication with clients, care partners, communities, and members of the intraprofessional and interprofessional teams in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team approach to promote client outcomes.
