COSM 1100 Preclinic Introduction

Description

Preclinic Introduction will examine the field of Cosmetology which includes hair, nail and skin care. Areas of study will include professional image, Minnesota laws and rules, safety, cleaning and disinfection, anatomy, electricity, and chemistry as related to the profession. This course will contribute 96 hours towards licensure.

Topics to be Covered

1. Safety precautions, professionalism, communication, disorders and diseases, anatomy, trichology, massage movements and Minnesota Cosmetology Laws and Rules.

9. Interpret laws and rules Chapters 2110, 2105 & 155A.

10. List the types and classifications of bacteria.

11. Define blood borne pathogens and explain how they are transmitted.

12. Explain the differences between cleaning, disinfecting & sterilizing.

13. List the types of disinfectants and the steps to using them properly.

14. Define safety precautions

15. Define and explain the importance of anatomy and physiology to the cosmetology profession.

16. Name the 11 main body systems and explain their functions.

17. Define how chemistry relates to our industry and in the products we use.

18. Identify the nature of electricity and how it relate to cosmetology, including nail technology and esthetics.

19. Recognize diseases and disorders that should not be treated in the salon.

20. Perform massage movements related to the area of study.
